I've only had this problem with Fords before. Their hood release adjustments become out of whack and I need someone to be pulling up on the hood while I pull the hood release in order for it to catch. Where is the adjustment for this? Is it behind the actual hold release pull, or up by the hood on the latch?

 

There is no "adjustment" other than figuring out if the latch is a bit too high or low in the existing bolt holes. Just tweak it one way or the other until latching unlatching works to your satisfaction.

 

I have noticed this as well. I pull the hood release and it won't pop up. I lubed my latch mechanism with a dry film lube and it seems to be working better. It did take a couple times of lubing it before operation was better though.
