Default Hood Issues!

2015 Lariat 5.0. I've had the hood ajar sensor light up at every startup for a while now. The hood has always closed fine, sensor issue. I often open the hood to check the oil, etc... Yesterday I pulled the hood release and it had tension, but the hood is not reelasing. How the heck do you get the hood to release in this type of situation?

Maybe the 2 rubber bumper pads on the front corners under the hood need adjusting? Mine never popped up since new when I released the inside handle. 5 mins adjusting the bumpers and it was fixed.

Did you give the hood a gentle wack above the latch with the open palm of your hand? Sometimes that will get them to pop up. Good suggestion about adjusting the rubber stops. As for the false hood ajar warnings, it is not that uncommon for the sensor in the latch to go bad. You have to change out the latch assembly. It should be less then $100 to buy.

When I get it open, I'll check them. Thanks.

I did try the palm smack. No go. Yes, I do need to change out the latch assembly.

Adding this to close it out and for someone in the future that might have the same issue.

As stated, original issue was a "Hood Ajar" dash notification even when it was closed. Eventually, the hood was closed and would not open. Latch worked but did not have enough tension to release the hood. Adjusting the female part of the latch up was a quick fix until parts came in. Well, the hood ajar notification went away and the hood works a ok for now. Might have simply needed a minor adjustment.
