Mike, do you know if the 3.5 and 5.0 are limited from the transmission like the 2.7 is?

There are numerous torque limits in place on all the engines, for many different reasons.

For the fun of it, I graphed the torque and hp demand for each of the engines.

Thanks! I'm assuming those tables are for the 15-16 model years?

Just fyi, I have a 2.7 and I sorta got owned on the freeway last night by a Dodge Ram, lol! I know I could take him from a stop, but I think above 80 mph, the 2.7 really comes back to reality....

the naturally aspirated engines make power higher in rpm range. the 5.0 is an example and so is the v8 hemi. once they rev up they have lots of power. also they may feel faster than they are to some bc the power increase over the rpm range may be greater than a turbo engine which has a flatter power curve. so yea if you leave him off the line (which you should bc you have more power at that rpm range) expect to see him try and make it up once his revs get up there.

you shouldn't "get owned" tho. he may have had work done. lots of folks these days treat trucks like muscle cars and mod them for power beyond just tow capability. the 2.7 and 3.5 eco owners are no different.

I know exactly what you mean. When cruising on the interstate at 75 mph in my 2.7 eco, I'd step on the gas & it felt like it was just about tapped out on high end power. Now my new 5.0 will absolutely **** & get doing the same thing.
