Hi All,
Thanks for letting me join the group. So, I have a 2020 F-150 Supercrew Lariat 5.0L that I purchased used a year ago. I traded in my 2016 F-350 for it. So far so good. I miss having the Homelink garage door opener on the visor as my 2016 did and my wife's 2019 Edge does. Where can I buy either the button assembly or the black visor with the attached Homelink buttons. I have seen aftermarket stuff on Amazon and am not sure if this is is the same. Any help from you fellow members would be much appreciated. I thank you in advance. Being an EMT, I would be able to program one of the buttons for the firehouse to get the Ambulance out for a call as well.
I got mine from ebay also. Mine were off of a F250 or F350, I don't remember which, I got them a lot cheaper than the F150's were going for even though they are the same visors. Just know that you will have to run power to your visors if it didn't come with homelink. Here is a link to the upgrade info.
They used to. My 2016 F-350 Lariat did. I guess FORD got cheap and you needed the next package to get the Homelink. Now I'm told the 2023 model options are even more sparse and that there are less items in the Lariat 501A pkg. including the Homelink. I don't know for sure. I did see a used (From a salvage yard) left visor with the Homelink for around $170 Thought that was a bit pricey and the after market buttons that appear to attach to the stock visor are about half the price but I don't know much about them. Are they compatible? who knows......
If you have lighted vanity mirrors, you don't need to run power.
I have added Homelink to the visors of several Ford vehicles (2013 F-150, 2018 Fusion Energi). The first thing is to check the visor and see if you can feel an indentation where the module belongs. If so, there are multiple sets of instructions / photos in this forum that show how to partially remove the fabric, remove the section of the visor where the module goes, install the module, and then put the fabric back. When done properly, no one can tell it's not factory original.
I have purchased my Homelink modules on Ebay, $20 - $30.
I'm attaching a PDF of posts that I created (the PDF) in 2014. Note - you MUST verify that the visor does indeed have the indentations (last one I did had lines, and tiny holes at each of the 4 corners) that covers the compartment it will go in).
This is my 2013 installation -
