I know, RTFM.... But.... I have 3 garage doors, 2 of them are Craftsman openers and one is Chamberlain that I just put in today. Is it possible to code two different makers with the 3 buttons?

Yes, each of the three homelink buttons operate independently.

Right but is each button capable of mimicking a different brand?

Yes. I have two craftsman remotes, and one older genie with dip switches programmed. No issues with multiple brands.

OK so I press and hold the button I want to program until it flashes, press it and the remote from the new opener at the same time to train it to brand, then train that button to the opener?

Sounds about right, but i don't recall the exact procedure off the top of my head. In the first iteration where you old the existing remote to homelink, it is determining if the remote is fixed or rolling code. If fixed (dip switches), it learns the code and programming is complete. If rolling, it then requires to do a sequence with the opener's learn button. When I did it a few years ago, I followed a procedure on homelink's website.

Ha ha yes they do. But I tried reprogramming and it did not work. I have an older Craftsman and a brand new Chamberlain.

And LiftMaster. All of them are compatibale with each other.

If I had anything that still used DIP switches in the remote, and it had any security function at all, I'd replace it.

Pro tip: always reset the codes for your garage doors and gates when you move into a new place. Someone, maybe several someones, still has a remote or Homelink button paired with your receivers.

True. Mine have been reset many times because people losing remotes. My daughter misplaced one the other day so I reset it again but she ended up finding it. My car was stolen in my old house so I had to reset everything there.

This new opener is great BTW. SUPER quiet! It has soft start for both up and down so you hear nothing at all. The quietest motor I have ever had. It also has WiFi my phone app alerts me when the door is opened and full control from the app. Uses MyQ so you can get cameras and stuff too.
