Default Hitch Options

I am looking for a receiver hitch/ball. In the past I used Hidden Hitch. Is there any preference that people have for one over the other? Most I would tow is probably 5k lbs. I have no specific need right now but want to get it before I need it.

I like the OE hitch. If I didn't have one I'd probably get one from a salvage yard.

I'd recommend you review posts on the towing section of the forum, https://www.f150forum.com/f82, before towing.

A King Ranch is loaded with options, and as such usually has a very low Payload. That number is available on your door jamb on a yellow sticker.

That low payload, coupled with hundreds of pounds of passengers and their gear often means that you may not even be able to tow 5,000 pounds.

Example:

Payload is 1,200 pounds.
Owner is 200 pounds, wife is 150, and two friends are 150 each. That's 650 pounds.

1,200 minus 650 = 550 pounds of payload left.

At 13% average hitch weight, 550 pounds of payload means a max LOADED trailer of 4,231 pounds (550 / .13).

No problem in adding a hitch, but make sure you understand your towing limits.
