Default Hitch height?

Hello!

Can anyone please tell me the height of the hitch off the ground (hopefully level ground) for a 2016 F-150 4x4? I'm trying to get a hitch set up and do not have that measurement.

Thanks in advance!!

To the top of the truck's receiver, mine is 21". I have a small 5x8 trailer that wants the height to be 16". I recently ordered a 5" drop. My Travel Trailer I have not perfected yet. I believe it wants a 18" height, I am pretty sure my existing WDH shank will work after some re-arranging.

Thanks for your help!! Working on getting the travel trailer hitch set up on my new truck and want to make sure I'm in the ball park to pull the trailer to level ground.

Thanks again!

You have to measure your truck, to find out. Most trailers require from 18 to 19" from ground to top of ball, so you need the height of a 2" ball, to add it to the measurement from floor to bottom of the inside of your hitch (which would be a 0 drop), then find the difference from that measurement to 18 or 19 (whatever it's needed for your trailer), and determine the additional drop (if any) that you'd need for the new draw bar. Also make sure to buy the shortest draw-bar possible, and with the max possible weight rating too (as well as the ball's). For my Platinum 4x4, I think I bought a 2" drop bar, so I must have around 21" as well. It was perfect for the U-Haul trailer I rented. Hope this helps.

Inside top lip of the hitch receiver bar on mine is 20". This would be the top of a square bar ball mount.

The more relevant measurement is at the bottom of the 'hole', but since it's a 2" hitch, it'd be 18" (with zero drop). You need to measure the ball, which I think are about 3", so your truck is probably like most 4x4s, at 21" with a zero drop draw bar. You'd need a 2" drop draw bar, to bring the floor to top of ball measurement down to 19", which is what you need for most trailers. Hope this helps.
