Default In hindsight ko2 or toyo at2

I see most people here run the ko2 and a couple run the toyo at2. I'm torn between the ko2 in 285/65r20 or the at2 extreme in 295/60r20. Given the amount of people that have these tires, especially the ko2, which is more quiet and offers a better ride? I will sacrifice offroad capability for a better ride and for silence. Ideally I'd like the tire to be as quiet as my stock ones are. My research on this forum and others has shown me picking tires is like picking trucks. There is a lot of brand loyalty/preference. But given the price of these tires I want to damn well make sure I pick the right set. I understand you may prefer a different brand or tire type, but i am honestly not interested. I've heard great things about both, but i have heard people say the at2 extreme is loud. I do not want a hum at highway speeds. If both have this then i may have to reconsider my options.

Thanks guys

I have ran both, and they are both great tires. However, I like the KO2's better. I think they look better, ride better, and they are snowflake rated.. not sure if the Toyos are.. the last few sets of toyo at2's I ran had some tread squirm, albeit on a heavy e350 work van.. but it was enough to make me uncomfortable more than once. My KO2's are very quiet..

I have the ko2 on my land cruiser and the at2 extreme on my f150 and I don't know where people are getting that the at2 is loud because it's just not. I can hear a slight hum to them with the windows up and radio off at highway speed but that's it. Not even remotely close to a mud tire. Having said that the traction sucks in the wet but it could be because the truck is light in the ***. I'm happy with both and say you can't go wrong either way.

I have the KO2s and I'm very happy with them. They look great, are very quiet, and have been performing great for me. I don't have any experience with the Toyos, but if my memory serves me right, I want to say they're like 10-12lbs heavier per tire, when comparing the same size tires. Roughly 60lbs for the BFG and I think the Toyo is 70-72lbs. So, a bigger hit to performance and MPGs.

I have 33k miles on my ko2s and they don't even look half worn. They don't make any noise and drive great. The only downside to them is the price which might make it hard to go back with them again. I think I may try a set of falken wildpeak at3s next.

Ko2s for me as well, would have loved to get the new Nitto Ridge Grapplers, just killer looking tires.

Well for 285/55r20, the BFG's weigh 56lb and the Toyo weigh 59lb. The BFG are load range D, the Toyo are load range E and the BFG are .1" shorter in that size.

The OP inquired about 285/65R20 BFGs, which are 34.5" tall, 60lbs and load range E. Toyo doesn't make the AT2 in that size, but in the 295/60R20 size the AT2 is 33.9" tall, 62lbs and also load range E. Not as heavy as I was remembering. I might have been thinking of the Open Country M/T.

jcarr, you are 100% correct on the toyos, but i think the ko2 are a better all around tire

I was deciding between the same tires and ended up with KO2'S. They are very quiet and ride great. My neighbor got the at2 and likes them but ko2 looks more aggressive. Mine are wearing very well. The ko2 is taller and in my opinion looks better.

the ko2 is incredible in the snow. Took the truck out in 2 ft of snow to see how it did. It ripped through everything including the big drifts. Was really impressed.
