High centered
I drove over a curb hidden in the snow and bent the retractable step up on my platinum Screw . I've had a body shop give me an estimate to replace the step up and at the time it still would retract and open when the door was opened or closed . This was about a week ago , yesterday the step up would close at entry but reopen after the door was closed. I finically after several attempts got the step to stay retracted ! I then went into settings and turned the accessory off . My question is : should I have the auto repair shop replace more than just the step up or does the computer side of this need to be looked at , what do you all think is the procedure I should follow . I'm still waiting for a case # from my insurance , and exspect one today

There's a mechanism that detects resistance during retraction to prevent someone's foot from being smashed. If the step has been bent, then the geometry might be off just enough to cause binding. The truck doesn't know why there is resistance, so it will cancel retracting.
