Default Help identifying whatever this is…sensor maybe?

Hi I have 2015 f150 xl and was taking apart my radio and saw a 2 wire plug just tie strapped not being used… after searching to find the use for it, I came across the picture below

my truck has 2 white plugs (like the one pictured on right) just wondering what the sensor is? Since I’m in the process of upgrading I may just buy the part and add whatever it is to my ride.

Can you scan the QR code with your phone camera? My XL has a similar setup. Not sure what they are though.
Since they are in the air ducts, maybe temp sensors?

That left one looks like this temp sensor I found on Rockauto.

That sensor is indeed the driver side panel temperature sensor (Item 2). The other side that has the white plug is used for the passenger side panel temperature control for the DATC (Dual Automatic Temperature Control) but is not used for the EMTC (Electronic Manual Temperature Control) like your truck has. There is one more temperature sensor down low for the floor ducts (Item 10).

I figure it was that.. I might get those sensors to open the option for auto climate control. I’m sure those sensors and auto control would make that happen. Forscan of course just have to do some research. New here so tons of reading to do

There are a lot of things that have to be added for the conversion from EMTC to DATC. You would need patience and deep pockets to complete this.

I’ve read somewhere dual wouldn’t work which isn’t a big deal for me. If the plug is there for the footwell sensor, what else do you think I’d need? I have access to a few doners on my lot.

For sure you will need to replace the FCIM. You may need to replace the HVAC housing, some wiring, and the current temperature blend door with actuator. You will need to add an additional temperature blend door with actuator and the passenger side temperature sensors. Here are the DATC components. Sounds easy but the entire dash would need to be disassembled and the A/C system evacuated to accomplish the modification. It should be something you could accomplish with the right donor vehicle of a similar model year.

Keep in mind that FCIMs from Lariat and above that have DATC do not support heated seats. For these higher models with heated and cooled seats there is a separate module for the seat temperature controls.
