Hey guys and gals,
I removed the thing, looks like it's a GSM/GPRS modem transmitter module. I have no idea what that is...internet search says:
"is a chip or circuit that will be used to establish communication between a mobile device or a computing machine and a GSM or GPRS system".
I don't use any of the sync stuff. Also I only listen to Apple music by connecting my cellphone to the truck via bluetooth, Im betting this is some sort of a WIFI or a hotspot receiver. I do have the technology package. Look at the yellow, green and orange wires in the last picture, they appear to be cut. That entire bundle has been tampered with because it showed signs of being moved and was untucked and hanging down. Also I was reading that if it's a GPS tracking device, it will have an inline relay to interrupt the power (starter disable). I don't see one of those on this.

GPS trackers don't have to have a starter interrupt. The better ones do, but those cost more as they require two-way communication.

Any idea what all this is? Thanks!!

This is the only thread I found talking about this, helped me figure it out, so for anyone in the future who's still wondering:

The device is a Mopar EVTS (Electronic Vehicle Tracking System), also called the Mopar Guidepoint System. It's an OEM Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram accessory made by Guidepoint Systems, typically installed by the dealership — either for lot inventory management before sale, or sold as an add-on (sometimes bundled into financing).

What it does:
  • Real-time GPS tracking
  • Stolen vehicle recovery (24/7 monitoring center coordinates with police)
  • Geofencing, speed alerts, hard-braking/acceleration logs, arrival/departure notifications
  • Battery disconnect alerts
  • The button with the phone icon is the OnCall panic button — pressing it contacts Guidepoint's response center
How it's wired:
  • Plugs into the OBD2 port via a passthrough harness (the harness gives you back a "new" OBD2 port on the other side)
  • Cellular connection via a SIMCom SIM5320 GSM/GPRS modem with a SIM card
  • Has an internal backup battery so it keeps transmitting briefly even if unplugged
Identifying parts:
  • Chrysler EVTS harness, P/N 11011201 (or similar)
  • Black module with FCC ID UDV-1103022011008 (the cellular modem inside)
Status: Active tracking only happens if there's a current service subscription. No subscription = hardware sits there doing nothing. Guidepoint can confirm subscription status by VIN: 1-877-477-3710.

To disable: Unplug the module from the OBD2 passthrough harness
