Just in case this happens to anyone in the future. The problem is with the sct tuner.

Glad to hear you got it resolved. Thats why I suggested trying to load the stock tune but I know you were unable to. I had a very similar issue on my Mustang and loading the stock tune resolved it for me.

Well the truck is still at the dealership 160 miles away. I called sct and told them what happened. They said when I get the truck back to send the device and whatever ford charges me to flash the pcm back. I guess they gonna reimburse me since their device and update bricked my truck. Nice to know they stand behind their product.

Thanks for the update on this. A followup question - It wasn't clear to me, did you try loading a tune while you made the rest stop? Otherwise, I don't understand why it all of a sudden would have bricked had you not tried updating anything.

are they gonna pay for the rest of your 5/60 if ford decides to expire your engine warranty? Just saying your truck was taken in bricked by your tuner. I hope this works out for you. But I can see real easy That the next time you go in for warranty work you might have problems.

They didn't say anything about expiring the warranty. And I don't see them using that excuse if I go in for, let's say, something that's not related to the pcm or tune. Either way I am gonna ask them. If that's the case I'll sell the truck to my company which I own and work around the system. Worst case scenario I'll sell it and buy the raptor

it's not the dealership that expires your warranty. Before any warranty work is approved they look and take pics of any non oem aftermarket parts. Yours is a tune. Ford will make note. Since the pcm keeps track. The dealer might not know its expired. You might not find out till the next fix where if engine related they say due to bla bla bla whatever is not covered. Or you might get lucky. I rather hope your in the clear.

Glad you were able to get it figured out. Curious but were you running an SCT canned tune or a Custom tune?
