Default Help getting rid of that drop in liner

Hey all, I just had my dealer do a lot to lot transfer and found out that the truck I'm getting has a liner installed (not on window sticker, added by dealer after). I would much rather have spray in, and I convinced my sales guy that if he and I can easily remove it without damaging it, he'd throw it on another truck and I wouldn't have to pay for it.

So... anyone remove the drop-in ford bedliner from an '18 5.5' bed? Is it hard? Are there any points to watch out for damaging it? Watching this video (
) looks like there are "16 mm pushpins" that plastically deform on installation and if you remove them they'll break... Can't seem to find a replacement for those either.

Thanks all!

I would but I already am running out of negotiating room - z plan, and squeezed an extra 500$ on my trade in that no other dealer was willing to do. And skipped out on all their silly add-on protection plans.

They're making some money offa me but i'm still giving a fight!

It is not a fight. Tell them plan and simple you do not want it nor will I pay for it. They can take it out and keep it or leave it and take 125 off the price their choose.

Just keep it,I love mine.
I've had spray in liners before because I was worried about the liner causing the bed to rust,I'm not worried about that now & it is holding up well, still looks brand new.

i dont think youre going to damage the liner, might scratch up your bed but theyre going to scuff it up for the spray in anyway.

exactly,so why not just leave it in & use it.
I highly doubt the spray in will out perform it in any way..

I’d rather (and do) have the plastic. No worries about rust with aluminum, this no worries about paint rubbing underneath since it’s out of sight. I think this will take any potential sharp impacts that would puncture/tear alum well before steel better than a spray in. Also easy to remove and go spray in down the road if you change your mind or it starts warping like some do. My truck has the factory one and it seems significantly thinner than the factory one my 03 came with though. I dunno if it’s just Ford or if it’s an across the board cheaping out/things aren’t made like they used sort of thing.

Spray in was the worst thing I ever did to a truck. Stick with your drop in liner

Dissenting voice here. The OEM drop-in sucks. It is slick, so everything slides around in the bed. The corners are rounded big time so you lose being able to shove rectangular items all the way in the corners. The cut-outs for the tiedowns aren't in the correct place and are too small, making it difficult to tie your loads down. Give me a spray-in every time.
