Default Help getting behind center console

Odd request. I had a large (roughly silver dollar size) County Sheriff coin sitting on the sliding Sync lid that is just under the climate control instrument cluster. While backing up I heard it rattle around like it slid off. I immediately stopped and looked for it......everywhere. Flashlight and all. I am thinking it slid through the center raised area. (see picture). Is there a (somewhat easy) way to access behind the center console?

Not sure how to get behind the console, but... what type of metal was the coin? You might try one of those telescoping magnetic rods you can buy at Home Depot for cheap, and stick it back behind there and move it around to see if you cannot pick it up this way.

The side panel can be removed to get limited access. The piece from carpet to side tray has a bolt in front, then snaps. Once removed there are a few holes in brackets. It is full of ducts, wires, etc. I lost a key the same way, three days later I noticed it in tray. Do not know how it ended up there as tray was closed when lost. I am going to post a tip on another post to help others to be aware.

A afterthought you might look on line for console parts and see what it looks like, the parts view will show how it is made.

Are you talking about driver side or passenger?

I took drivers side off and it had one 7mm bolt, the drivers side does not seem to have bolt, has vent instead. The panel comes off at change of color. Like I stated you are probably finding a ford parts website that shows you the parts before getting too deep. Good luck

Pull up the top panel where the cubby is and it will expose two 7mm bolts. Remove those and pry your console cover out starting from the top. Once it's removed, unplug the wires and set aside. The black piece at the bottom is held in with two more 7mm bolts. Remove this and it will come right out.

This is with the cover and CD player removed. Just take out those two boltsand it should let you get to what you need.

S. Archer;
I didn't need your reply (at least not yet), but good information. And above that, how nice of you to go to all the trouble. Thanks.

Yes, thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. Hopefully this weekend I can get a pass from wife and kid stuff to try this.
