Help: console shifter issue
Looking for some insight here. 2017 F-150, 5.0 6R80. Just got home from work and went to put it in park and this happened.
Truck console shifter feels like it is binding, I have to push it quite hard to go into park. To bring it out of park I have to push it forward pull lever in and then shift it down. The locking lever engages in reverse and in neutral. When I put it in drive the lock doesn’t engage, and I can slide it down to 2, but it won’t go into 1, and I can push it up into neutral and it will lock there.
It shifts fine, drives fine but this just happened now. I’m thinking shifting linkage? Any advice?
**EDIT: I removed the center console trim and verified there is no broken pieces laying in there physically impacting the shifter movement.

Disconnect the shift cable from the shifter and see if it moves properly. If it doesn't you have a bad shifter, if it does you can move on to checking the cable and linkage at the transmission.
My guess is it's the shifter.
