I’ve had the 5.0 in the 16 and the 5.0 in the 18 now, awesome engine. The 16 had a kick off the start with the 6 speed with the 10 she still moves. I noticed I just put roughly 200 kms today around city, managed 13.7 :P it’s not amazing but that’s good, old truck averaged 16.8

I've got the 2.7. Love it to death, it's super fast and few things are more awesome than hearing it whistle when you accelerate. BUT there is a part of me that wishes I had gone with a 5.0. Yeah the mpg isn't as good, but reliability is probably better and it doesn't sound like a lawn mower!

If you're a "no replacement for displacement" type, want a throaty exhaust, or want to do significant power adds (supercharger, etc.): 5.0

Most economical? 2.7 EB.

MOAR POWARZ? 3.5 EB.

All engines are good. Let your wallet decide as there is a difference in price.

Was just in your shoes with similar thoughts. I grabbed the 3.5EB with the 10 speed because it was just faster stock than anything else on the lot, F150 wise raptor excluded. The small MPG difference coupled with the greater payload and towing just because you never know what the future holds, is what should me. Then 2.7 and the 5.0 were great and I don't think you can go wrong with any of the engines I just liked the punch of the 3.5 better.

Too scare the crap out of your passengers the 5.0 with a Whipple.

For what you speak of, the 3.5NA would do fine depending on what weight you will be towing and be extremely reliable.
