Default Help with 4” to 8” screen conversion

So, I have a 17 XLT with a 4” radio screen. I ordered a Fordscan OBD2 adapter, and will purchase fordscan pretty soon. I have an issue though. I have a customer/friend that I do work for that got me an 8” screen and bezel out of a wrecked 16 XLT. Both have column shifters, not the center console (I read that somehow that may make a difference). Idk how to tell if it’s sync 2 or 3. I googled it and based off different videos I might have either, but I think sync 2. I personally don’t care which one I end up with, I just want to know how I should try to program it and change the values in fordscan. I don’t necessarily care about nav, and apple CarPlay as I use Bluetooth anyway. I have also read that I may need the wiring harness from 4Dtech, which is fine as that sounds like it would be my only cost other than the labor to get the radio and bezel. I have read most of the forums over the last day or two about this, and will be doing it as soon as I can.

You have Sync 3.

Also, you don't need the harness from 4DTech if you're willing to repin your existing harness. All the 4DTech harness does is swap the wires around. In both cases you'll need to add the GPS module yourself.

The part you posted, GL3T-14G370-JL, is a sync 3 APIM.

If you haven't already, I would read through the first few results here. Should give you an idea of which parts you need and a rough guide to follow.

As for programming, the easiest route would be to grab your as-built data from here (using your VIN) and then use forscan to upload those values to your new APIM. There are videos that document this process on youtube if you need a better visualization than what is provided by the written guides on this and other forums.
