Default Heated Mirrors

I have a 2015 Platinum and was wondering if the power fold mirrors are heated? I had an 2008 FX2 and had a button in the cab to push for heated mirrors. Are they automatic or do they work with a certain button (defrost)?

They are heated. They activate when pressing the rear defogger button.

just some information I found interesting from reading the Service Manual

The driver's side electro-chromatic (auto-dimming) heated mirror takes longer to defrost than the passenger side mirror due to the increased thickness of the glass.

That is interesting. I was thinking the last 2 cool mornings that my driver's side heated mirror was needing an inspection at the dealer since it took noticeably longer to get rid of the dew/frost.

Thanks tmcolegr!

Here's a link to the thread where I posted the Ford document.

I have also compared defrost times of the driver's side mirror between Trailer Tow Mirrors & Non-Trailer Tow Mirrors. The Trailer Tow Mirrors take longer to defrost.

Thanks tmcolegr!
Wow, same here! I thought for sure there was something amiss. I even got out and touched both mirrors to see if the driver side was heating.

I missed your original post tmcolegr on this - Thanks for sharing!!
