Red face Heat and Rain...

So... I discovered I can't keep sunglasses in the sun-glass holder of my 16 Lariat... it gets TOO HOT in there, melted the glue of the case, and makes the glasses so hot, I have to cool them down on the air vent before I can put them on!

Also... Went through some heavy rain storms a few times, and the sound of the rain hitting the aluminum roof is CRAZY LOUD!

Has anyone added sound/temp insulation up there? Did it help? What did you use?

I have not noticed the noise issue. I have driven through plenty of storms and havent noticed a sound difference between this and any other vehicle I have driven.

I don't keep my sunglasses in the holder but I keep them above my visor and they do get hot (but not so hot I am worried about damage). I guess it could be possible your truck was built without the insulation? does the ceiling feel hot to the touch?

I've been thinking of doing this first for the heat but when I go through the car wash it is so damn loud when the sprayer hits the roof you can't hear yourself think.
I've thought of spray foam, regular fiberglass insulation and some that you cut and fit and use adhesive. I just can't decide because I hate ripping out the headliner.

Something like this is what I'm considering.

You know it could be this. I know there is no insulation in my XLT and it is a '16 also. Maybe '16's didn't get insulation or it was missed on some.

OK, I said screw it and I'll be the guinea pig on this. I ordered the Nicco Green from my link above. It says I only need 15sq ft but that seems short to me. Should have it tomorrow and I'll try to install Thrusday or Friday.

I have a ‘16 with the pano moonroof and the rain is noisy to me from the metal parts of the roof. I’ve been planning to put dampening sheets up there.

Yup, my Oakley's glue around the lenses totally melted from storing them up there in Houston summers : ( apparently it's not covered under warranty lol

Oakley doesn’t cover anything, they suck as a company in general. Go Costa and don’t look back!
