Default Has any experienced this problem.

So, ever since the first week after I bought my truck I have been running HIDs in my halogen housing. Everything works fine except the autolight switch. My right headlight would turn off while driving all the time, but only during the day. At night it would stay on. But if I turn my lights on manually they would stay on with no problems day and night. I have been just turning on the lights on manually ever since but decided to finally do something. I bought some LEDs. They do the same exact thing now.

Have any of you experienced this problem or have any ideas what I can do to fix this?

Do you have cancellers on each bulb?

you stated ever since the first week you owned the truck you've used 2 different types of bulbs in your halogen headlamps.

Sounds like you really don't know that the issue doesn't occur with the original halogen bulbs. Why not reinstall the halogen bulbs to see if the problem persists.

I would not install HID bulbs. They can create excessive heat and cause problems that will not be covered by factory warranty.

Pretty sure HID's run cooler than halogen bulbs.

As stated above, scroll through your dashboard settings and disable the daytime running lights ("DRL"). When the stock lights are activated in daytime mode, they run on a lower power level. This tends to dance around the activation point for your HID relay, which can cause goofy issues like flickering lights or lights that aren't on/off at the right time. Disabling the DRL option will cause the relay to remain switched off until you send full power to the headlights - such as manually turning them on, or the automatic sensor detecting darkness.

so it sounds like the solution would be to get a proper relay that runs power off of the battery instead of using the actual headlight power.

High Intensity Discharge lights are known for burning the sockets in a very short period of time. The heat emitted from the capsules may be greater than from the bulb but that would not matter, if the HID bulb is installed and the socket is burned expect warranty to deny the repair.
