Default Had to Replace driver side mirror

Mirror got hit in parking lot. Decided not to claim because of deductible. Replacement cost at dealership "$1,200.00" ouch

What trim level is your truck? Was it a tow mirror or regular? I could be wrong but I thought that a single mirror - even a power extending/folding tow mirror on its own shouldn't cost nearly that much, and it's super easy to change yourself. I remember seeing pairs of the top-tier OEM tow mirrors new for sale for about $2,000 CAD (about $1,500 USD), didn't think a single one would be that much to replace, especially if it's not one of the more expensive ones.

I bought my pair of tow mirrors, without power fold/extend but with heated and power glass, new from ford for $800 CAD.

Might check with insurance to be sure.. My insurance considers being hit while parked a non collision event.
So it goes under comprehensive which the deductible is only $50.00 USD.
My collision deductible is only $200.00 but still when you claim anything under comprehensive it doesn't count against your record or insurance cost like collision can.

I have StateFarm in the USA so maybe totally different with your company and location but for what its worth.

I would also check Tasca or Rockauto online. The assembly may be 1/2 dealer cost and I understand its pretty easy to remove and replace for the common shade tree mechanic.
Check eBay too... Depending on whether you have the black mirror cap, PTM or chrome it may be easy to come up with one for cheap...

Had to have my DS loaded power folding OEM tow mirror replaced about 6 weeks ago (insurance covered). body shop billed $1900. That didn’t even include reprogramming the surround camera module. Glad it was the other guy’s insurance company picking up the cost.
