Grinding in Reverse?
First, a little back story:
At approx. 2,500 miles, I started experiencing a slight tick when slowing to a stop. Dealerships (I went to 2 different ones) both said there was nothing wrong with the brakes. Since it was intermittent, I could never reproduce it for them.
At 12,500 miles, front rotors were turned, due to warpage.
At 20,500 miles, front rotors and pads were replaced, again due to warpage.
After both of these services, the noise was still there. I informed the service writer each time about the braking noise. I just sort of got used to it. 2H, 4H, 4A, nothing made the noise different or go away.
After researching the issue, I figured it wouldn't hurt to get part # FL3Z-3A788-A.
Finally, this week I got the time to install the part, and the brake-related noise went away! Yay!
NOW, I have new issues: Yesterday I had an intermittent grinding noise coming from the front end on slow-speed 90-degree turns (stop lights). Today I noticed a wheel bearing-like noise in reverse, sounds like it's coming from something in the front end of the truck.
Any ideas or more diagnostics?
Thanks,
-John

Check for cracks the connector that connects the rubber hose to the plastic line. These are usually on the frame down by the front wheels. They have been known to hold pressure when straight but, when the wheels are turned the hose tends to pull and then the crack opens up.
