Default Great MPG avg on 3.5 eco

Wife and I took our German Shepherd to the snow yesterday and I thought I would share my stats for mpg avg. I have a 2 wheel drive SCREW with the 3.5 eco and a 23 gal tank.

Filled up on weds night. I drove about 3 miles 25 - 35 mph to get home. Took off Thurs. morning from the Fremont Ca. area going up 880 to 238 then on to 580/238 to 680. took 680 north to 80 in Fairfield ca. took 80 to 50 in Sacramento then on up and stopped at a snow park just maybe 30 miles east of Lake Tahoe. Headed back same day same route but in reverse.

Total miles driven 408. Temps ranged from 43 to 65, Altitude which I think is important as my avg dropped going up. It ranged from sea level to 7000ft. I drove between 70 and 80mph but used my cruise control most of the time. At the end of the day My avg was 20.8 mpg on 87 octane Union 76 gas. at 2.57/gal

Wish I could remotely get close too that.

Indy to Fort Myers 17.4mpg
Fort Myers to Indy 17.4mpg
1150 miles each direction
Cruise set at 78mph 70-80% of the time.

If I didn't want to beat my last record by 2 mins from door to door I would have driven at 55 down the highway and gotten 21mpg

I think allot of folks are seeing lower MPG in the 3.5 due to them being in a 4x4 where I am in a 4x2

Just over 19 gal. to fill.

Before putting BF Goodrich K02's on, moving to the city, and discovering sport mode, I was getting at least 23 MPG average with my eco. Very impressive coming from the dinosaur that is known as the 5.4L V8. This is with the 4x4 version and 3.31 gears.

That's it...... mines going back to the service dept. O wait it's there now I will just call them and add another item to the list.
Now how do I tell the service dept that my ecoboost is broke???? Maybe I can just forward a link to this thread and tell them my friends are getting 23 mpg and I'm not getting close too that...

It was his first time to the snow. He is a rescue from the Bay Area German Shepherd Rescue. If you want to go to the snow and you live in the bay area, your gona put in some miles.

^ I hear you, if we want to "go the snow" here, we just step outside (well, at least for 5-6 months of the year...)
