That is how it's supposed to work. For those that disagree, please don't b*tch when your dealer doesn't come through for you when you need help or have a question.

Oh wait....
There are about 15 other ways to get the information the OP needed.

He chose to ask the person who sells it, to give it to him for free. ("it" being knowledge). Dealer blows him off to deal with paying customers because that is how they make money.

You wanna do it yourself (or in this case, try to save a buck) have at it. More power to you. Thats your choice. Just follow through and do it all even if it means buying a book, using the internet, or going to the library. Don't be lazy and get all butt hurt when someone who makes their money doing what you are trying to do tells you to pound sand.

Not everyone is going to just give you what you ask for because you think you're entitled to it. If you don't like that they handled the situation go shop somewhere else.

Why didn't you just take it to a 4x4 shop of some sort... You drop 50k on a truck and pay an ex mechanic to do it for you??

Well, the guy I used was highly recommended by someone I trust. The person I used had over 17 years experience in Ford suspensions and supposedly put leveling kits on in his sleep. Maybe he was right and nothing needed to be torqued to spec but I just couldn't let it go.

I probably should have spoken up then but it was something that just kept nagging on my mind until I decided to tackle the problem. I am not sure how I was being lazy by contacting my dealer to have them give me some basic information on my truck. I did try other sources for information with no luck so I turned to them.

I am not sure why nobody thinks their dealer should be working for them. Like I said it's not like I was asking for anything they couldn't have quickly looked up in a book or the computer in front of them.

Torque specs should have came with the level kit.

If theres someone out there that could torque 406 I would like to meet them. lol. I honestly doubt theres a bolt on the trucks that could take that much to begin with, let alone someone actually be able to torque that much.

I am a Shop Foreman at a Ford dealer, I get requests for information all the time, some I can provide for customers as per the workshop manual, but some aftermarket accessories I don't have access to the information. It sounds like your dealer wasn't very helpful, but not all of us should be painted with the same brush

How is you hiring somebody else to work on the truck having the dealer work for you?

You bought the truck from the sales department, not the service department.

^^ I'm sorry but answers like this are just plain stupid. ^^

You bought from the Dealership. The service dept. and sales dept are not two separate entities.

When I bought this truck the sales dept. (salesman) introduced me to a service writer that was there to help me. If there was something I needed then give him a call. Period.

The guys that think the dealer shouldn't give out the torque specs to a customer are the first guys to complain when there dealer doesn't kiss their a**, drop everything a take care of them.
