Default Is this a good deal? 2016 F-150 XLT

Hi,

This is my first post and hopefully this is the right place for this question. (Also, hoping that the format isn't all crazy)

I’m looking to buy a 2016 F-150 XLT 4X4 SuperCrew as a surprise for my husband. I’m not really familiar with buying a truck and this will be only the 2nd vehicle that I’ve ever purchased. So there is a lot of uncertainty on if I’m getting a good deal. I like to think that no one is trying to completely screw me over, but you just never know. I’m really hoping that someone can help to determine if the below is good deal or if I need to negotiate some more. Thank you!!

F-150 XLT 4X4 SuperCrew - 5.5 Box
  • 2.7 L V6 Eco Boost
  • Equipment Group 302A
  • XLT Chrome Appearance Package
  • 3.73 Electronic Locking Axle Ratio
  • Twin Panel Moon roof
  • Trailer Tow Package
  • Cloth 40/Console/40
MSRP = $48,310.00
Discount = -$4,431.00
Rebate = -$5,050.00
Doc Fee = +488.00
Negotiated Price without county taxes = $39,317.00

Welcome to the forum. Would you happen to have the VIN of the truck?

I would suggest you look for an X-Plan pin online and use it. You get a flat doc fee (yours is abnormally high) and close to dealer invoice on the truck.

Its very much a pre-set price and cuts the haggling out. Do you have a breakdown of the rebates/discount that the dealer gave you?

Another alternative is to use truecar.com. You get to as close as dealer invoice price as possible.

Good luck with the purchase, the guy is lucky to have such an awesome wife that'll give him a truck!

Do you guys ever tow anything? Also, that does look a bit high for a truck with a 2.7 in it...

Agreed, if it were a 3.5 maybe, but with the 2.7 it seems like they could drop down another grand or so.

Rebates+discounts put you at about 20% off. I consider that a pretty fair deal. Truck guys tend to lie about 3 things (1. MPG, 2. Price they paid, 3. well I'll leave that to your imagination)

At my dealer, the discounts on a XLT 302A are around 6k as a point of reference. Rebates not included.

Not bad. The rebate amount looks pretty good so I'm guessing you're getting the $1000 cash back from Ford in there and you are financing with Ford Credit. The dealer discount doesn't look as good but not bad. Doc Fee seems very high but that might be a state thing.

I still want to know if you tow, though, or have intentions to. I like all three of the engines available but also want to make sure it's something your husband can use to its fullest extent for your lifestyle.

18.61% discount. They can easily negotiate it down to 20%, or about 1500 less...
