Goo Gone
it wont come off with your hands? Mine just peeled off with a little effort.
as for the goo gone, Ive used it multiple times on multiple vehicles with no issue. That being said, I usually use some kind of cleaner afterwards and wax it (if its on paint). I'd use it on that panel and never think twice about it. Just clean it off when youre done.
But technically I dont know.

It comes off with a lot of effort. I think it’s been on there quite awhile.
I’ve never used Goo Gone but have used rubbing alcohol or WD40/liquid wrench on numerous vehicles for years without problems.
1. Clean area (wash if you like)
2. Try alcohol
3. If the above doesn’t work, then WD40/liquid wrench
4. Clean area again
5. Wax

I agree with TexasRedfish -- Oils work well for removing most adhesives and don't require you to re-wax after removal (although you probably want to wash at least that area with your normal car wash detergent). Never had much luck with alcohols for removing anything but dirt. It does not remove any solvent-based adhesives, only water-based.
Peanut butter actually works well on vertical surfaces. The high oil content will slowly cause the adhesive bond to release. I don't think I'd want peanut butter in my keypad buttons, though, so care would be warranted.
