Getting your title from Ford Credit
So i bought a new truck about a month ago and financed it through ford credit for the extra $500. I just paid it off and called ford credit to see how long to get my title back and they said they don't keep the titles on vehicles sold in mo. They would send me a lien release to take to the dmv and get a title. So i called the dmv, they said that ford get's the title but destroys them so i have to bring in the lien release and apply for a duplicate title for $95 and a 6-10 week wait.I say BS on ford's finance dept. I guess it's too much trouble for them to store the title's.

I have it registered in illinois so the state sends the title to the lien holder who normally keeps it until payoff, but ford didn't do that. DMV said they have seen this with ford before. It just kinda sucks i have to order a duplicate title.

I traded mine in signed power of attorney, dealer paid off loan and received title no muss no fuss AZ.

When I paid off my 09 with 5/3 Bank here in Ohio, they didn't have a title to send me either. Instead, just like the OP they sent me a Lien Release that I took to the title office and they then produced a title. They did it while I waited, so no delay for me.
Lots of people now a days never pay off a vehicle so never any reason to have a paper title produced. Lots easier and cheaper to just keep the records electronicly until a paper title is needed.

Conduct the transaction at the SOS office and they produce whatever needs to be produced.

In KY they send you the title for you to keep.
Once you pay off the lien, they send you the release form to take to the clerk's office and they clear the title for you.
I like it because I can keep the actual title in my safe and I always know where it is.
