Default Geico Breakdown vs ESP

Have a 17 Lariat insured thru Geico, policy includes Mechanical Breakdown Insurance. Policy states it will cover components, a $250 deductible applies to each repair. Seems like a dumb question but if I have this coverage should I even be thinking of purchasing a Ford ESP thru Zieger or Flood? Has anyone on this forum had experience with Geico's breakdown insurance?

Default please disregard

Please disregard the Geico vs ESP thread, I asked the same question in September for my other truck, now sold, forgot I asked it. I really, really, hate getting old.

Not clear on the covered items vs ESP. Does it cover the electronics too? Don't know, and don't really want to find out, but I have the Gieco on our car and truck.

I am old as well and about 10 seconds ago I forgot that you said to ignore this thread.

I dumped my Zeigler coverage when I found I had the same coverage under Geico. Called Geico and verified coverage is all inclusive. They even state it on their website.

At the current premium ($38.00 a year) it would take me approximately 38 years to spend as much as the Zeilger coverage.

Default geico mechanical breakdown

I too am old and did not see the first post. I am 63 have only been geico first on parents plan then mine.

when geico started with mechanical breakdown I thought save tons of money. 2005 corolla, 2008 marquis, 2008 accord, 2012 370z, 2014 Subaru brz, 2016 f150, and soon to be 2018 audi tt roadster. all have and will have geico mechhaincal breakdown some have expired some not.
(I have 3 kids on plan)

however, they all started out about 38$ per 6 month renewal or 76 per year which would make it about 550$ for the 7 years. cheaper than the esp. and they do cover everything. but I have found that not all dealers will accept the insurance. local Honda dealer for instance, but the one 8 more miles away did.

very satisfied up to 2 years ago looking at my renewal sheets I noticed that the 370z's mechanical breakdown cost was up to 163$ per renewal. 326$ per year. sorry just looked the 370z is up to 219.80 per 6 month renewal now (See attached sheet).

called to ask what was up the rep said (basically) that if geico sees a trend with the all the 370z'z they insure and that car is experiencing a greater/higher/ more expensive MB claims against that vehicle they will adjust up the cost of the MB coverage.

if I had known this I would have had the kid get the Nissan ext warranty when he brought the car.

I have 1 week before I hit the 1 year anniversary on the 150 I am gonna get the premium ESP from flood (I think) and cancel the 92 dollars a yer I am paying for the geico MB. I plan to get "0" ded 8 yr. 75k mi. I have only put 1800 on the 150.

with geico MB it is a bargan if it is a fixed price. In 5 yrs the Z has been in for MB coverage 2 x's so that is an additional 500$ onto the cost of the MB coverage

Before you buy the ESP online take a copy of the online quote to the dealer who will do the work to see if they will meet it.

I told them I would throw in an extra $50. After a little haggling they told me, we will end up doing the work so might as well accept it.
