Gears: G2 vs Yukon
I have a 2016 King Ranch 4x4 that I have lifted (6") with 35's. I currently have 3.55 gears (8.8 rear). I am looking to change to 4.10. My local shop has quoted me the G2's and the Yukons.. both with the complete master kits.. front and rear. There is a huge difference in price. The Yukon install is $1000 more than the G2's ($2600 vs $3600) Does anyone have any experience with both of these brands? I've heard good things about the Yukon's, but of course, I'm trying to figure out if they are that much better than the G2's. I have a nice truck, and even though $1000 is a lot of money, I would be willing to go that route if the Yukon's are worth that much more. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Well its been a little over a decade, but I have installed ~100 sets of yukon gears in all kinds of applications, always good stuff. And randys is pretty easy to deal with also, whether its you or this shop.
No experience with G2 stuff, it was brand new back then and had a reputation for being cheap. But who knows how true that was, or is today. But seems a little fishy that the price difference would be that drastic.
You can call these guys, they are good. Ask them about it.

I would vote Yukon, but thats a slightly biased and uneducated (about G2) opinion.
Edit: Why dont you just change to the raptor OEM 4.10s?

OP, you should also confirm which rear differential you have. I'm not sure exactly which years used the Super 8.8 12-bolt, (I know 2015 did, not sure about your 2016), but you'll want to confirm if you have the 12-bolt Super 8.8, or the 10-bolt 8.8. They are two totally different diffs and gears for one will not work for the other.

Just want to make sure I'm clear with what your shop is saying. Are they saying the Yukon *install* is more expensive for some reason? Or the gears themselves? Have you priced out the gears online just to confirm that online they're $1000 more (assuming the shop is saying it's the gears that are more expensive).
I've seen packages for the 9.75, and those are quite a bit cheaper. I found that package on sale for around $1300.

OK, yep, that's why I was asking. To my knowledge, G2 does not make any gears for the Super 8.8. So Yukon (or some other brand) will be your only option.

Looks like Summit has the rears for under $200 with manufacturers rebate! Apparently some big Yukon rebate happening through April.

You'd just need the install kit for the rear.
And looks like they have the fronts (gears + install kit) for about $500.
I'd hope you should be able to do the whole thing, front and rear, INCLUDING install for under $2000 with the Yukons.
