Default Gear Shift Lighting

Hello,

I have a 2018 Ford Lariat 502a, just bought it a couple of weeks ago. I've never owned a Ford before this so apologies if this is a stupid question.

I noticed this evening when I was out driving that the gear shift indicator doesn't highlight the gear I'm in when I'm driving. For example, I'm sitting at a light in drive when I took this picture, however the "D" is not highlighted to indicate that's what gear I'm in.

You can see from the picture the whole thing is lit up and you can see all the letters, but it doesn't highlight the "D" when I'm in drive - or any other letter for that matter.

Is this "normal" ?

Yes, normal. Look at your gauge cluster if you want to know what gear you are in.

Yes in 2019 they don't even light, I had to buy it and add it to my 502a Lariat.
