Default Gear Selector/Shifter

I have a 2020 F150 XLT 4x4 Screw Sport. My gear selector/shifter is in the console rather than on the steering column. I drove the truck for the first time at night and noticed that park, neutral, reverse, etc were not illuminated by the shifter ( only on the dash). I was wondering if this is normal or should the gear selections be illuminated? Thanks in advance for any answers.

They stopped illuminating that in 2018 or 2019. There are aftermarket kits to illuminate it.

SSM 47929 - 2018-2019 F-150 - Floor Shift Transmission Selector Lever - Floor Shift Gear Selection Indicator (PRNDL) Not Illuminated - Built On Or After 17-Jan-2018

2018-2019 F-150 vehicles equipped with a floor shift transmission selector lever built on or after 17-Jan-2018 are not equipped with an illuminated gear selection indicator (PRNDL) on the transmission selector lever assembly. The component is no longer equipped due to a running change. The vehicle is not misbuilt. The addition of any parts would not be considered a warrantable repair. Do not submit a claim for this condition.

You can add it yourself. Search threads I added to my 2019 Lariat part was less than $20.

OEM parts are hard to come by, F150LEDS has an aftermarket setup.

Someone has a Cupholder with the light and cover for sale in the F/S section -

Pretty sure the 2020 doesn’t have the plug on the harness anymore. I’d check first before assuming it’s not there, of course. If there’s no plug, you’d need an adapter harness like this: https://www.boostedgreygoosedesigns.net/2015-2020fordf150/2015-2020-f-150-pnp-shifter-bezel-plate-backlighting-adapter

There is no plug from late 2018 and up you will have to tap into something. I tapped the cup ring.

best soluction, buy that linked cupholder for $40 for the light and the unavailable bracket that holds the light. then have boostedgrey make you a PNP harness.

Look into BoostedGrayGoose, he has OE grade kits for all sorts of things, this being one of them. I added a raptor wheel and paddle shifters into my 2015 with his kit and couldn't be happier. Currently waiting control module and clockspring to be able to run the Heated Wheel harness I got from there as well

Does anyone know where to connnect the adapter harness for the PNP center console light? The harness arrives but there were no instructions on where to connect. Tried to contact boosted grey but no response.
