Default Gear Display

So the point of the post is to make sure I do not have an electrical issue, I don't care what gear I am in. On the RPM gauge, on the right side sometimes it shows numbers for what gear I am in and sometimes it does not. I can not find a rhyme or reason why sometimes it comes up and sometimes it is blank, this is in Drive. When I put the truck in manual it always comes up and shows the gear numbers. What are the thoughts?

Hit the shift (Up/Down) button. You can toggle it On/Off.

So if I am in Drive then using the shift up and down turns it on and off correct?

Correct, you're not the first to post this. It got me on my '12. With the '17, I knew what to do.

No your not....it got me too...my wife's floor shift.....& my column shift, both are the same if you go past the highest gear it turns off the readout....I couldn't find it in the manuel either...
I played with it for a few days/week or so before I got lucky & saw it go out as I upshifted the control....even on & off for a few times just to test it further...
Six months ago my wife asked me to fix it (readout) again she doesn't know how it went out...It is now my secret.......I made her get out of her truck while I fixed it

This was my first "mod", finding out how to keep and get rid of the gear display.
