Default Gas Octane Grade

Just bought a 2017 3.5EB and assume it does not need high octane gas but being too lazy to ready the manual I figured I'd ask you guys. Is 87 octane good enough? Maybe bump it up to mid grade when towing ???

Opinions?

I've put 87 in my truck for 66,000 miles and it's fine. I think you're wasting money for anything more. As far as towing it's not going to hurt anything by putting a higher grade in.

I think the turbos like octane, especially when towing in hot weather. That's when I use at least a mid-grade. Other times, 87 is good (no less than 87, even if they sell 85, per the OM).

Hopefully, all posters will play nice or else this thread will meet the same demise as so many other ones on this subject...

Do yourself self a big favor. Read the manual and decide for yourself.

The 3.5 HO is the only one that requires Premium. I have been running 87 in mine. Some people have said they get better mileage with premium though.

87 is Fine. Ford recommends 91 for best performance.

You can perhaps get an edge with premium fuels for MPG, however the small gains are less than the cost per gallon vs. cost per mile you'll pay for premium.

Next......

We're just having fun here. Haven't had an octane thread in a week. Lighten up.
Tomorrows will be fun too.
Yesterday was oil. Today fuel. Tomorrow will be exciting.

Just for fun. If I mash the go pedal what should I see as a top speed? 110?

You'll see how fast it can go!
