Default Future of Diesel !?!

This is absolutely awesome! Gives me hope for a future with HD diesel engines that are free from the scourge of exhaust aftertreatment devices!

Hmm will need to fill at two pumps, but if in a pickup, it can balance out a tank on each side. Wonder what the Nox levels are at that efficiency.

According to the video the nox levels are low enough, even on this prototype, to meet 2010 emissions standards with no aftertreatment whatsoever.

Very interesting. It's still compression ignition so should work with turbos. That could be a big deal for long-haul trucks.

biggest issue with diesel is how hot it needs to burn to be a clean as gasoline. It's also an issue for that engine and it's counterparts but you notice the hardly mention the exhaust issues.

Biggest thing that engine does do - is get rid of most of the lower RPM - Low load - diesel soot creation - because it would run on mostly gas there.

HOnestly I really think we need to go deeper on getting rid of on road diesel oil and move everyone over to Jet A and it's variants. Any diesel can run it with very minimal issues (biggest one being fuel pump lubrication) and would automatically run cleaner.

cost of fuel - probably would come down since so much is already made to support aviation and airport ground equipment. If you want to take full advantage of it you can burn less for equal power - it runs hotter and cleaner. All win win.

Farm equipment honestly could trade over just as easily - but we already seperate out off road diesel. So might as well keep it for now.
