Default fuse panel question

2016 XLT SC. I need an empty fuse slot that is not always hot, but switched. I have a dash cam that plugs into an empty slot. All the cigarette lighter ports are hot always. Anybody know much on this? Its alot of work to test them if someone has done such. Must be inside cab.

Thanks

The cigarette ports should only stay hot for about 30 to 40 minutes and then shut down.

Fuses 19, 20, 21, 22, 35, 36, and 37 are all switched by Ignition (Hot on Start and Run). Fuses 23 and 38 are switched by the Accessory Delay Relay in the BCM. Most people use an Add-a-Fuse to get power from the BCM.

If you use this, remember that it takes two fuses. The bottom one replaces the fuse you take out to plug the Add-a-Fuse in. The upper one is for the added circuit. Depending on the manufacturer, some people have had to trim them a bit to get them to fit, or push hard to get them to seat. They can fall out if not properly seated.

If you want the dash cam to go off as soon as you shut the engine off, I would recommend F36. This fuse is for Rear Heated Module, Auto-dimming Interior Mirror, IPMB, and HSWM. If it unseats you will likely know it and none of these are critical functions.

If you want the dash cam to stay on (like the radio) until the Accessory Delay Relay shuts off the Accessory power, I would recommend F23. This fuse is for Master Window Control Switch, Power Sliding Rear Window Switch, DC/AC Inverter Module, and Roof Opening Panel Module. Not a critical function if it unseats.

I just got done wiring up my Garmin 56 with the parking mode cable. I followed this thread and it worked like a charm.

Take a look at post #10 for the add a fuse and what fuses to go with.
