Ford Customer Service
Let’s get this escalated for you. Please, PM me with your VIN, dealer, full name, mileage, concern, and best daytime number. I’ll loop in the customer service manager for your area.
This is a joke ford. This tsb has done nothing it sounds like. I would contact ford service here and take it right back to the dealer and document it to them. Ford has to hear there new fix does not work. I hope I do not have this issue when my truck gets here. This is not rocket science ford, just basic vehicle parts.
same here in southwestern pa. when it gets to 15 degrees its just a chance that my doors wont work. mostly the right rear... i cant believe it. is it a lost science that door locks and latches are so hard to design.. weve had doors on cars for over a hundred years.. really!!!!! smh
My 15 supercab did it today. Bottom latch on the rear DS door wouldn't engage. Any time I took a right turn it would throw a door ajar alert and I could feel both doors move out of the closed position. I parked the vehicle, opened the driver door, and could clearly see the latch failing to engage by lightly pulling on the rear door. ...

I had no issues my first winter but have had problems this winter and am on the waiting list for parts.

I guess I shouldn't have been reading this thread. I had no problems last winter (but kept the truck in the garage). This winter, it's outside. Before Christmas, I had an issue with the driver rear door (supercab), where the dash indicator was on, but the door closed and opened properly. It happened again right after New Year, so I took it into the dealer. Even though I mentioned the TSB/SSM, they diagnosed it as a 'sensor' problem, and ordered the part for that.
My appointment is tomorrow morning (Tuesday). Today (Monday), it was cold here, about 5 degrees F and I encountered the issue where the drivers door wouldn't latch. I finally managed to get it working (don't know exactly how, I did let it run another 5 minutes to warm up more).
I called the dealer, who has ordered the parts associated with the SSM. Supposed to ship on the 18th, so tomorrow (when they 'fix' the sensor issue), they said they would look at the latches and door mechanism to try to clean/lube them. We shall see.
Not so good when you don't trust the door from opening as you lean against it going down the highway.

Mine were cleaned and lubed last Thursday as my parts were ordered. Back order could last 2 months. Supposed to be above zero all week here (GTA Ontario)...but with moisture and freezing again next week the problem will likely return...hoping the shields in the upgraded kit do the job.
OP, was your "fix" the shielded latch? I suspect that some dealers arw just ordering new latches.

Still have the problem if not a bit worse now. It's in my garage above freezing and I cannot turn my driver door lock cylinder with my key. Major malfunction, before the tsb I could at least turn the cylinder, not that I could always get in.

Ok, so that is the kit that was ordered for me too. I guess I should have low expectations then. I will ask for my dealer to put a lot of grease into the system.

It's hard to think positive with everyone having the same problems and no fix for it.

Just going to put this out there. Just wondering if it is expansion / contraction of the aluminum door structure / truck body that is affecting the binding the mechanism / latches ect.

I believe the problem is that, because the trucks are made of aluminum, they designed the doors to not stop so much water from getting in at the window felts and didn't foresee all the other problems that it could cause in the cold weather climates. I believe that the real fix that will work for our trucks is a re-designed, thicker and tighter window felt on the exterior.
