*edited disclaimer*. I REALIZE THAT THE 1492 or 1793 or whatever HAS MORE LUXURY FEATURES, BUT THAT WOULD BE COMPARABLE TO OUR KING RANCH. I KNOW THAT TUNDRAS ARE THE KING OF RESALE VALUE AND RELIABILITY. I POSTED THIS BECAUSE THESE FEATURES I THOUGHT WOULD BE STANDARD.
My buddy got a close to top of the line Toyota and so he spent about the same $$$ as my low grade XLT FX4. Interestingly, he is realizing that he doesn't have as many features as my truck. Okay...
1. No keypad to unlock (he was shocked when he saw me dial in after I forget where I put my keys)
2. No power lock on tailgate. he has to whip out his key every time. And then he'll sometimes have to recheck it, lol.
3. His Remote start kills the engine when he unlocks his truck. So he doesn't use it. Who would want to start their truck twice? Toyota claims it's a theft preventing feature, LOL. And I'll even use my phone to start my truck...
4. No heated seats either
These features are pretty useful to me. Im not even gonna get into gas milage, however, I gotta say is that Tundra owners got us on that nice *** rear windshield. And his truck looks pretty cool

A TRD pro is 100% paying for suspension on a mid level SR5 essentially. My best friend had one, but it was far from on the stock bilstiens. So a top level Toyota would be a platinum or a 1794. Think of it as a less capable raptor challenger.
Your XLT fx4 is not even remotely a valid comparison in terms of offroad. He also has leather, and you probably don't

The Tundra is a very old platform, with a very, very old (by comparison) drivetrain package.
The Toyota strategy isn't to lead, rather to follow with minor reliability improvements to maintain their reputation.
I would be interested in the reason your buddy did buy a Toyota. Ford, GM and RAM all outsell Tundra by HUGE margins every single year.
So, your buddy went into Toyota and said to himself: Even though 99% of truck buyers choose something different; and, have for more than a decade. This is the truck for me.
I'm interested in that thought process.

I'm a Toyota follower and really wanted a Tundra. But the fact your can't get a crew cab with the 6.5 foot box, poor fuel economy and lack of tech made me pass.
Oh, and also the fact that Toyota won't give you a 0% interest rate deal.

Probably the closest package to the FX4 is the SR5 TSS. I looked at a TSS and it was nice, but felt old and lack features compare to the Ford, Ram and the new Nissan Titan offerings.
