I had the TSB completed about 1 year ago on my 16. At the time I requested the work, it took about 5 weeks for the parts to be delivered to the dealer. At first the dealer service department was hesitant to complete it without being able to duplicate the problem. Luckily for me, every time the door latches were frozen shut I videoed trying to open all four doors. The video evidence was what it took for them to "duplicate" the problem. Until the time the fix occurred I had several instances of the doors not opening. Luckily for me, once I was able to open the door(s) they latched closed. Since I have had the TSB complete, I have not had one problem (knock on wood) with the doors. We've had some snow, ~6-7 inches, and temps in the -9 to 10 above 0 over the last couple weeks and my doors have operated as they should.

I posted in the sticky thread this morning, but I had the TSB done at the end of last winter. Passenger door latch was frozen this morning. It was -20C (-4F). Not happy at all.

The TSB (and recall since it's the same parts) doesn't work.

Default Door Latch issues

Has anyone had the recent recall in which ford installs the "water shield" for the prevention of the door latch freezing? Last week I took my truck into my dealership after several problems of my door latches freezing causing the doors to stay locked and once finally freed, the door would not properly close (latch) rendering it a hazard when driving. I would have to hold the door closed while driving. I've seen other on this forum taking a bungee cord to secure the door while driving.

On 12/28/17 Ford installed the recall and claimed that it was fixed, however the next several days the same issue was occurring. Temperatures here in PA are below 20 degrees. I spoke with my deal again and advised them of my troubles, I was told again to bring it in. When I brought it in, they were puzzled and stated that "either way they would fix it". (Not sure what that means). In the meantime I have been speaking with a Lemon Law Attorney who claims that the vehicle is deemed an "unsafe" vehicle because of the doors not being properly secured while in motion. The dealer still has my vehicle and no word yet on a solution.

HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THE RECALL WORK DONE AND IS IT WORKING FOR YOU? Unsure of my next step as I am unfamiliar with how the lemon law works and it sounds as if FORD themselves are puzzled with a FIX
My 2017 has been acting up and I have now joined the rest of you with this unacceptable problem. None us would believe a giant like FORD can't figure out how to keep a door closed. I feel like a total moron driving to work with one arm crossed under the other to hold a door. Love the truck as I have had several however, I really think they have lost their way. I do not believe I would purchase another Ford product after over two years of this nonsense. Musk can send a 27 engine rocket into space but Ford can't keep us safe after all the years they have building vehicles...shameful.

So now I'm off my soapbox of aggravation. It seems like we are all waiting for FORD to find a solution and give it to us over the remainder of our lives. Seriously, anybody heard of the classic local garage who might have come up with a solution that finds the cause and has a solution that works. We all know, it is us little guys that usually brings an engineering design and part that blows the market away with a fix to our problem or need for speed. I'd love to hear someone came up with a reliable fix before one of us gets hurt or killed waiting for FORD to fix what they sold us. It's been over three years with some type of door issue. I mean really, how long can we drive one handed while we hold a door closed with the other? Thanks in advance for any direction.

Default Freezing/sticking door latches

I had mine done today, one door wouldn’t open and the other wouldn’t close (first time having the issue) The dealer took me in and had the recall done by mid afternoon.

After reading my hopes aren’t too high it’s going to be a permanent fix though..

I had one incident where my door didn't want to close. I pushed the power door lock/unlock button a few times and it closed and latched. I still haven't got a letter saying the parts are available.

Had my 17 since August and so far the door lock/unlock problem hasn't happened. Having said that still waiting for parts to get the recall done!

I wonder how many owners have experienced this problem?

Bottom line don't think I'm going to get mine done until/unless the doors fail to lock/unlock or stay closed............

I only had the one incident in 13 months. I'm still not sure if I'll get the recall done?? Maybe if it happens again and my "lock/unlock several times" method doesn't work.
I'm not crazy about them tearing into my doors. I wish they would give me the parts so I could do it myself. I'm an expert in removing door panels.

Dealers in NJ do not have parts either.....my back door wouldn't latch at the bottom this week...ok now, but annoying when it occurs.... turning corners, door ajar chime goes off and dome light comes on. Called purchasing dealer and Detroit, and same response...doesn't make sense that parts for a potential serious or deadly situation are not available.....they stated they should be available by end of March.
