Default Forscan help!

Greetings. I’m new to using forscan. Just loaded it to my laptop, got the license, and plugged it into my truck. Following Livnitup’s instructions in the main Forscan thread, I went into configuration to begin saving each of the as-built modules. After clicking on the first module, I got a low voltage error, then the lights started flickering. I turned everything off, but now my truck won’t start. The lights turn on, but it just clicks when I turn the key.

Has anyone else had this happen? Was the battery just too low? I’m going to jump it in the morning, hopefully I just need a new battery.

I appreciate any feedback or assistance.

Probably low battery as you have guessed. Whenever I do anything other that just quickly reading DTCs, I put a charger on the battery for the duration of my FORScan work. Many of the modules get cranky if the voltage drops too low. This is evident when a weak battery throws multiple random DTCs after an engine start, a common scenario.

Thanks for the response. Had the truck jumped this morning, took it in to have the battery looked at and they said he was surprised I could even drive the voltage was so low. So ended up getting a new battery.

I’ll definitely be picking up a charger this week to continue with Forscan. Thanks for the tip!

Next time you want to continue with your program get a battery charger and hook it up with a low current charge while logged on with FOrscan. The electronics are sensitive to low voltage so while you get lost in your vehicle with the door open, lights on, turning the key, etc your batty is being drained. You don't want to be in the middle of a download and get disconnected due to low voltage. Most likely you would get a warning before it got that far but......

Do you know what BMS is?
Where was your battery changed at? Or who installed it?

Got it replaced at my local Ford dealership. I’ve read about BMS, and I assume they reset it as everything’s working fine
