Default Ford Remote Access Question

I already have factory installed remote start in my 2016 F150. It came with a base 4.2" stereo with Sync 2.

However, I've removed the screen, stereo, and Sync module and used the PAC dash kit to upgrade the head unit.

Will the Ford Remote Access feature still work with my vehicle? (i.e.. using the App to remote start, unlock doors, etc.). I suspect that the core functionality requires the Sync module or associated components.

The ford remote access module doesn't use sync. It uses the VSS module.

Thanks.

So the next question is this: Am I hardware precluded from subscribing to the Remote Access service? Do I need anything else installed?

Edit: Looks like I only need the remote access module. It works with the remote start module and is independent of the Sync system.

You need two modules, which are documented in multiple threads. The fact that Remote Start is already enabled on your truck means you don't need FORScan, or a dealer, to activate it. The dealer who sells you the two modules will turn on the cellular component. Your existing remote start is not a module, it's built into the truck (and can be turned on with FORScan for those that didn't order it with the truck).

Thanks.

Has it been discontinued? Was just speaking with a local dealer who said that it was.

I'd also need the scalable alarm kit, correct?

Hasn't been discontinued as it's still the only option for older vehicles. The 17's+ can come with Sync connect. You do need the VSS module with the shock sensor in order to plug in the remote access module.

here's the big thread of the install and parts
