Ford Performance Lowering Kit?
This is made by Ground Effects and installation with Bilsteins all-round went fine. This is on my new 2020 3.5 Ecoboost Extended cab. My truck has heavy duty towing package. It has the 36-gallon tank so whatever HD towing stuff is included in that package--trailer brake, etc.. Unsure if leaf springs are HD or not. Anyways as expected you take the standard 1" blocks out from under the leaf springs and install new shackles with a a tiny wedge shaped spacer. The kit also provides "open cell" rubber bump stops which seems about the same height allowing for about the same shorter travel--but perhaps a softer bottoming effect? My mechanic opted to leave the standard beige super-dense bump stops in. I am hoping I can soften loaded railroad track type crossing when it bottoms. There is also reference in the instruction instructions that indicate some trucks also have a .350 spacer in conjunction with the standard 1" spacer. I called Ground Effects and they say it was put on some trucks and then not others with no rhyme or reason--NOT on mine. I'm thinking I would maybe like to add those .350" spacers as it will work with the kit--but I cannot find this spacer in parts diagrams. Ultimately I think I should also install the open-cell kit bump stops in conjunction with that elusive optional .350" spacer plate.
Has anyone installed this kit and worked through this? Can an one point me to that optional .350" spacer? Maybe I could even cut the bump stops down a smidge but don't know if that would cause interference with the shackles or other suspension parts. Thanks
