Default Ford to electrify F-series

“We’re going to be electrifying the F-Series — battery electric and hybrid,” Jim Farley, Ford president of global markets, said Wednesday during a presentation at the Deutsche Bank Global Automotive Conference in the MGM Grand in Detroit.

That's not surprising to me. Eventually most vehicles will probably be that way. The trick is going to be developing batteries that will last long enough and produce enough power (and not be huge) to use a truck for some of the things it's intended for, namely hauling and towing. When, and I believe it's when and not if, that is accomplished then the truck will be a very useful vehicle.

Watching the intro video where they build a new F150 every 53 seconds. Maybe they need to make it 63 seconds and they wouldn't be having as many recalls?

The recalls are more of a design/engineering problem, not assembly.

How about the trick of a 5 minute charge (or 5 minute battery pack replacement)? I also want to see the trick of disposal of batteries when they are end of life.

electric motors are so much simpler, they will figure out implementing an electric motor before fixing your rattling. Electric motors are surperior and I’m looking forward to them being in trucks for the instant torque. Honestly I don’t mind everything going that way except sports cars I always want a combustion engine and manual transmission for the driver involvement and experience.

All those links are for the hybrid. This is the first announcement of an all electric F-series truck.

The very 1st automobiles we had on this planet were electric, then steam, then petroleum. Were going back around again except this time we have a better understanding of how to tame electricity.
