Ford announces hybrid F-150
Today Ford announced, among other items, there will be a hybrid F-150. The following was taken from their press release to stock holders.
"A hybrid version of the best-selling F-150 pickup available by 2020 and sold in North America and the Middle East. The F-150 Hybrid, built at Ford’s Dearborn Truck Plant, will offer powerful towing and payload capacity and operate as a mobile generator."
In addition the plant scheduled to be built for small car platforms in Mexico will not be built and over 700 additional jobs will be developed at the Flat Rock, MI plant. Also Ford will be putting more than $700 Million into Flat Rock for expansion and updates.
So let the comments begin!!

Hmmmm, my loan ends around then. Maybe ill have to be an early adopter. Should I start a "found issues" thread now? We'll have to come up with some short hand for our signature lines. So like EcoHy. HySCrew. Im not a creative person.......

Sorry, that was everything they said. We just have to wait for more information. However I find the ability to use it as a generator of interest. It would be great if it could support 30 amp for the AC on my camper.
I also think it would be a way to downsize engine since the hybrid side would give an extra HP boost to pull a heavy camper from a dead start.

The generator is going to be a nice feature! I can imagine taking this out to the hunting property and powering electric power tools for trimming trees, and things like that.

I would think you're going to lose some payload capacity just because of the weight of the battery packs. For example the Fusion GVWRs are roughly 3400/3600/3900 for the gas/hybrid/plugin respectively. It's going to happen but I think you'll have limited people who find it works for them. Sort of like F150 buyers who chose the NA V6. Figure out a way to make it pull a 7k pound trailer and that torque off the line will be really nice.
