FOB vs KeyBlade remote start range
Not a ton of info available from what I was searching (basically the title of the thread).
Anyways I had push start and FOB in my Edge. At work one foot out the back door and i could get my car to start. Now the truck is back to a key (which sucks
FOB rocks!)
I tried remote start at the back door, nothing walked 15 ft...still nothing...kept going about 15 ft until i literally was 2 parking rows away from my truck a good football fields walk away from the building. Any range tips for these newer trucks? I know the 09-14 had extended antennas you could purchase?
Really stinks cause it'd would be amazing to start it from inside at work during winter. If it won't start till where I was today there is literally no point in using it by that time.
I get why the FOB is better, I just want to find out how to make my key halfway decent.

I don't wanna add anything short of maybe getting the keyless fob again, which I realize is impossible. I bought a vehicle with remote start I shouldn't have to go "buy a better OEM system" on top of that. Looking for a modification to either an extender antenna or something in the key I can add like a wire for an antenna boost
I appreciate the response though and the information is useful for others still, comments weren't directed towards your response, more of an annoyance that Ford has 4 different OEM remote start systems!

There is a TSB that adds an antenna and a thread about it. https://www.f150forum.com/f38/2013-1...5/#post4320795
Maybe I got lucky, but mine works really well. I have the switchblade key on my 2015 XLT 302a with factory remote start. I've used it successfully from at least 200', probably more. The cool thing is the remote led shows green or red so you know if it worked.
+1 - My switchblade key remote is the same as brg2015's - coming from a 2004 that the unlock fob would't reach more than 20ft I was skeptical of the remote start feature on the '15, but it has worked every time from 100'+ that I've tried it.

yea same key I have. It's how I know it wasn't started. I literally started at back door of work and took 4-5 steps would try and take 4-5 more steps all the way until I was 2 rows back from my vehicle in a lot with about 15-20 cars wide. I was parked on outside right spot, and standing in far outside left spot. If that makes sense
Solid Green: It worked cars on
Solid Red: It worked you just shut car off
blinking red: DOH! FAIL
blinking green: its thinking / waiting for update to see if it worked
