Default Which Flowmaster for 5.0?

I know I know... my third exhaust post. But I've figured it out now I promise. I originally started looking at full cat back kits, then decided just go with a Borla muffler and have local shop install it but now after talking to my local shop who swears by Flowmasters that's what I'm looking at. Price is right too! Only problem is when I went to research which one holy crap is there a lot of choices. I'm looking to keep the factory resonator for now unless someone can give me a valid reason not to. I want something louder than stock but not wake the neighbors and **** off the wife loud. I plan on just dumping it after the muffler too because I like the look of no exhaust exit pipes. Again unless someone can give me a valid reason not to dump it. I was looking at all the options on americantrucks.com for universal Flowmaster mufflers and noticed some have 3 year warranties and some have lifetime warranties. So I would obviously prefer the lifetime warranty models. Thanks in advance. I've learned so much just in the last week or so from this forum!

Right now I'm leaning to just going with the original 40 series...

I have true duals with twin 40's and no resonator with tails all the way back.

Perfect sound. Very deep sound and not noticeable in the cab at cruising speed. Idling at a drive thru, you can hardly hear them.

I believe dumping the exhaust would make it pretty loud though.

FYI - cold start ups are a little loud with the Coyote.

You'll get a lot of different and various opinions about what you should do.

Truth. lol

I was hoping there’d be at least a common consensus on which actual muffler to pick at least.

I had a super 40 on my first 5.0. It sounded great when you wanted sound, but got a little excessive in the morning if the neighbors are around. The drone around 1900rpm was pretty awful. If I could go back, I would do a 50 delta flow. You’ll get a deeper, slightly louder note without attracting the wrong kind of attention. I think flowmaster has a graphic floating around that shows where each product lands on the sound spectrum from stock to race.

I chose a 50 Series Delta Flow, dual outlets with tailpipes from an MBRP kit coming out under a Raptor bumper. I like the sound on cold starts and under acceleration and get a lot of compliments on how it sounds. I don't find it annoying around 1900 rpm at highway speeds.

I just did a dynomax Ultra flow 17220 cost about $66. On my 19 5.0. It’s quiet at idle but has a rumble to it and while cruising but it gets loud when your on it. I’ve always liked dynomax but have had a few flowmasters I left the resonator. My last truck was a ram 2500 with a 6.4 HEMI I did a flowmaster super 40 it wasnt to loud as long as the resonator was in place. Without the resonator it was ridiculously loud 120db at idle. I have flowmaster original 40s on my 86 mustang gt and my wife’s 01 Mustang gt both with no cats both are loud. Guy at work has flowmaster 40 on his 16 F-150 5.0 with no cats it’s super loud. If you leave the cats and resonator it won’t be super loud another guy at work with 12 F-150 5.0 has flowmaster 40 with resonator and it’s quiet till he’s on it

I swapped out my stock muffler for a Flowmaster Super 40. I kept the resonator in place, and kept it a single outlet. I absolutely love how it sounds...just the right amount of rumble on acceleration, and crackle on deceleration, for my taste.

I had a original 40 on my 16 and it was really nice. Simply welded in place of the factory one is all I did. Wasn't too loud or obnoxious, if you want a little quieter the 50 series would be the ticket.. Overall I like my Borla touring though, complete cat back, 304 stainless and 1 million mile warranty for what that's worth, truck will rot to the ground before then lol....

I have a super 50 and I like it, but I also don't have the factory resonator on at the moment. Make sure you get a lifetime muffler as they are 410 stainless and at least won't rust out, vs the 3 year mufflers that are aluminized. I don't ever know why they still make aluminized mufflers, there's maybe $10 difference in price between the two.
