Default Fist time check engine light

My 2015 f150 XLT 2.7 just got the check engine light while I was on my way home. It's not flashing, just illuminated.

Anyone know how I check this without a scanner?
Trip to the dealership is a little bit of a drive, but I'm under warranty until 100k miles, sitting just over 90k right now. Wanted to know before I go if possible what might be the issue.

Most of the major auto parts stores (e.g. AutoZone) will scan codes for you. Usually for free.

I went by there, they closed early due to lack of staff 🙄

Then unless you have ForeScan or an app on your phone (Torque Pro is highly recommended if you have an Android) and a bluetooth ODBII connector, you will just need to wait until they open. No other way to get the codes that I am aware of.

Go into dash display mode by pushing the OK button then turning ignition on.
Step to the DTC display and see if a code appears.
I have not tried it so here is your chance to see.
When I do try it I will pull a coil connector off and cause a code, and see.
I know codes appear there but not sure where from.
Good luck.

AutoZone will scan it free. They just probably might be hesitant (at best) to clear it for you. They used to clear codes for people too, but lately I've encountered resistance to this.

It ended up being a P2450, which pointed to the emissions evap valve being stuck open. I didnt notice any issues in driving, cranking, or mpg. I cleaned around the gas flap and the seals. Cleared the light and waited to see if it would come back on. Been about a week now and no engine light at this point.
I'll keep an eye on performance for any changes, but right now we're looking ok.
