It's funny because 4x4 used to mean four gears and four wheel drive so most F150's now days are 6x4's or 10x4's.

That said I like what you've done there.

NAWWW ... Did you just make that up ? What about 6x6 ? Yes, there are 6x6 trucks. Has nothing to do with gears.

Turns out what I am talking about is one of many and varied uses of the different fours, a much earlier one was in a mass produced 1913 Nash that had four wheel drive and four wheel steering so I am just gonna say, yea, I was wrongish, I mean I was right, but in such a narrow way and in the face of so much evidence that supports other versions that we are just going to call it wrong. Did it used to mean what I said? Yes. But was it the origin of the term as I was implying (because I thought it was), turns out no.
