finally going into service for multiple issues
2018 F150 STX crew 6.5' 2wd w/17k, purchased new in Nov.
So I finally got around to making an appointment and dropped the truck off yesterday for the following:
- front passenger carpet saturated and starting to smell moldy. Leak path analysis indicates that no drain tube combined with no seal on the firewall equals perfect intrusion point
- rear diff vibe that starts between 47-49 mph. identified and pointed out during two test drives, service manager stated it was smooth. after purchasing and driving for a while I was able to pinpoint the fault begins between 47-49. multiple rebalances on two different sets of tires hasn't helped.
- transmission shifting issues. sometimes doesn't go into drive straight away and hesitates. also, even though in normal and not supposed to be using 4th gear, it stalls during the shift from 3rd to 4th and comes back on. almost like a fuel starvation situation.
- hood needs realigned. purchased vehicle new, never crashed and didn't notice till I had it for a while that the passenger gap was way off.
- right rear corner of bed sits low. something else I didn't notice until ownership for a couple weeks. purchasing during winter months (year end clearance pricing) has its advantages and disadvantages.
I've known about most of these for a while but didn't want to take it in for various reasons...after years of crappy products, I'm tired of fighting with dealerships. The water intrusion situation has upped the priority level and I may as well have the others rectified while she's down for maintenance. One thing I'm seriously dreading is a computer system reset that will undo all of my Forscan settings.
Wish me luck :-)

Sorry to hear man, I don't know as much about the 2018 issues as some of the others here but I think the transmission hesitation when going into drive is a well known thing - hopefully someone more experienced than I can confirm.
Sounds mainly like poor QC during the vehicle's assembly, please update if/when and how all of these issues are resolved. Good luck brother.

Hi, A couple of ishues that I know about on the drivers floor board it could be the firewall to body seal,or leaking windshield, or missing plastic plugs on floor board.
As far as the rear end there is a TSB out for the E Locker, bad pinion bearing,Ring and pinion gears worn have them remove the pan you will know if the fluid is comtaminated
you can get a new gasket from Mag Hytec and not put that crappp RTV on it.
There is a TSB out to flash the PCM for better 10 speed shifting, depending on your build date.

trans- reprogrammed last week and operating much better
vibe- first visit: said no defects. second visit: took department supervisor for ride- says nothing wrong with driveshaft/rear diff, but confirmed that there is a 'something' (vibe) at the described 47-60mph, and blames the transmission, even though I changed from normal to sport in an effort to change gears (rpm's) to eliminate that possibility. he's firm that it's an inherit characteristic of the 10spd (junk) and that they're still working out the kinks. still need to get the RO for documentation...arbitration if necessary.
leak- new carpet and drain tube (p/n acquired from previous TSB) has been approved by Ford and on order. supposed to go in next week for replacement.
bed lean- dealer took pics and approved for repair. although, I haven't been told what the repair will be...?
hood- dealer took pics and approved for realignment next week.

Update:
- Trans shifting, reprogrammed and all seems to be in order.
- Lean, replaced right rear leaf pack and both sides are within a 1/4" of each other (within spec)
- Hood, repositioned and all good
- Vibration, rear diff/driveshaft are being called good. Documented response from Shop Foreman: "test drove vehicle with customer. Vibration concern that is felt is normal characteristic for this vehicle. The is due to torque converter lock up. No repair attempt should be done at this time."
- Wet/moldy carpet- third dealer attempt- went to pickup yesterday and yes, they replaced the carpet, but it was still wet. Why? Cuz the service advisor showed the service tech the previous gen TSB and he said it didn't apply. Instead, he ran the vehicle for an extended period, on a level surface btw, to check for proper operation- "operating within spec." I told the advisor beforehand that the TSB was for prior gen vehicles and that dealers are using it to resolve current gen issues. On the first visit they applied sealant to the engine side of the firewall, half moon shape, just under the spout. So to be honest, I don't know if it's still leaking, but this $2 tube would definitely eliminate that unknown. They also never replaced the black insulation material that's around the evac tube. Meaning, the new carpet could've soaked up a lot of moisture from there but I suspect it's still leaking cuz it was really wet to the touch.
So, another loaner and it's still in the shop. The water leak guy comes on Monday's and is going to troubleshoot to ensure nothing else is leaking. I told them that at this point it's their call, but when the black insulation isn't wet a few inches either direction other than directly below then I'm fairly confident that we've isolated the issue. But hey, 10yrs chasing wing fuel leaks on aircraft...what do I know. Could I fix this myself? Absolutely. But since it already had four other mech/body issues, the carpet became the inspiration I needed to finally schedule it in for service. At this point, it's about principalities and doing nothing but building my arbitration/lemon law case...
