Default fault code P0012

Got this code when I tried to search the source of the engine light on (2016 XLT 5.0). Seems to be cam paser/selonoid related - timing is retarded on right (passenger side) bank. Anyone know what the possibile problems /causes might be and any olutions?

That was very helpful, thanks! I will replace the solenoid for now and hope that satisfies the code (I also plan to replace the spark plugs as well). My truck is running well and is quiet with no unusual noises at all, but occasionally/rarely has a barely noticeable rough idle (maybe 20 -25% of the time). I hope the fix is as simple as the solenoid - that would beat the heck out of replacing the cam phasers, etc. Again, I appreciate the lead.
