Factory sub

Yes
I ran mine with the WPT adapter using only the power, remote and ground from the WPT adapter. I tried using that adapter for speakers too but the sound was completely muffled, I then tried a RCA adapter too and same result. I ended up tapping into the factory speaker wire for the sound input. After that you will need FORSCAN to activate the sub.

Cool thanks. . I have forscan so no issues there forgot to mention that. Forgive me but I'm a little confused by what you did. With the wpt adapter, do I still need to tap into the speakers? I was hoping I'd just have to place the sub behind the seat, plug in the wpt adapter to the oem harness back there then set through forscan and that's it. There's so many posts about subs,, but it's easy to get lost in here.

If you enable sub output via forscan, and your truck has the wires for it (18s seem to to be hit or miss, 15-17 have them if you have siriusxm), you'll use all of the wires in the wpt-1212 and you will not tap into the speakers. If you don't want to use forscan or you can't get the line level output to work then you'll just use ground, power, and remote turn-on and then tap into the speakers. It's pretty simple once you get your hand in there and get the truck side of the connector free.

Thanks. Is 50 bucks (us) about right for the cost of this?

Thank You
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their information. I have 2017 XLT, no Sony and base radio. Bought the WPT-1212 cable from Rock Auto, Kicker Hideaway 8 from Amazon. Made the cable plugged it into the factory sub connector, enabled the sub with Fourscan and everything just worked.
Thanks again to everybody's great work. It made adding a small sub to round out the sound in my truck very easy and painless.

Hi All,
I ended up getting an OEM sub-woofer piratically for free. I was wondering if anyone knows the part numbers for the AMP. I did see one option but looks like there might be other part numbers as I only found one on ebay which was expensive.
Sub woofer: FL3T-19A067-AC
I believe I will need this harness: FL3Z-14A411-H
Here was the only amplifier part number I found: FL3T-18T806-AF hoping someone knows of any other options for the amp
